Possibilities

Mostly part of the work of the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman was dedicated to analyze the modern society through the idea of liquidity. For Bauman, the modernity is characterized by the transition of the solid society to the liquid society. Solid represents the era before the modernity where the social structures and human relationships where characterized for its state of stability. With the beginning of the modernity and specially after the first and second world war, the European Society begun what he denominate Liquid Modernity, where the social and financial structures and human relationships can be dissolved so quickly like water.

Possibilities was inspired by the idea of Liquid Modernity, specially for his studies about Liquid Love. Liquid Love is the analyses of the human relationships in the Liquid Modernity.

In order to deal with this topic as an initiator of a choreographic process, we used the idea of solid, liquid and impermeability to investigate physical states and in the body and the movement quality it generates. The transition from liquid to solid society is represented through this transition in the movement quality of the performers.

Possibilities was developed in the context of the Master Studies Dance Dissemination in Contemporary Context in the Center for Contemporary Dance in Cologne, under the mentoring of Martin Sonderkamp and Constanza Schellow.
